Guidelines & Information
Registration: Enrollment is limited according to the DSS ratio standards (Staff to children ratio)
There will always be two staff per room. DSS Ratios are:
- 1-2 years 1:6
- 2-3 years 1:8
- 3-4 years 1:12
- 4-5 years 1:17
Curriculum: “Read It Once Again”
Sickness/Illness Policy: MMO is equipped to care for well children only. Please do not bring your child to MMO if he/she has been sick the night before. Please keep your child home for twenty-four (24) hours after a fever has broken or after any throw-up or diarrhea. Your child must be fever-free without the aid of medication. Please keep your child home if they have a persistent cough with a thick mucus draining nose. We care about your child’s health and well-being and there is nothing worse than a child who does not feel well and needs the love and attention of their mom or dad.
If your child gets sick while in the MMO care you will be called and expected to pick him/her up immediately. If you cannot pick up your child, please make arrangements for someone to do so promptly. If we cannot reach either parent, emergency contacts listed on your Registration Form will be contacted. Please make sure that these people are aware that they may be called to pick up your child in case of an illness or accident.
MMO staff will not, for any reason, administer over-the-counter or prescription medication to your child at any time while in attendance.
Injuries: If an emergency should arise, we will call 911 immediately and notify the child’s parents and/or emergency contact.
Toilet Training: Children enrolled in the Three’s class or the Four’s class MUST be fully toilet-trained. In the event that a child has an accident (which we understand can happen at times), an incident report will be completed by the teacher (a copy will be provided to parent/guardian). If a child has three accidents within a week’s period, we will ask that the child remain home for three days to reassess whether they are fully trained and ready to return. If this continues with an individual child, a request by the director/coordinator may be made for the child to be withdrawn from the program until the child is fully toilet trained (this includes being able to tell an adult when you need to go, and completing all steps in the process of using the bathroom including handwashing). We kindly request that you refrain from sending your child to school in a belt or bottoms they struggle to unbutton. Most children’s accidents at this age can be simply from not being able to undo his/her bottoms in a timely manner.
Children in the younger classes (one’s and two’s) who are in the process of Toilet Training must be brought in a pull-up with the Velcro type side openings.
Snacks: A daily snack will be provided to each child. Please inform your child’s teacher and the MMO Coordinator of any known food allergies. Please do not bring juice or milk in cups to your child’s classroom.

Inclement Weather/Widespread Illness Closings Protocol
When inclement weather is a question, the school will try to communicate as quickly as possible via email, in most cases, what the plan for that day will be.
If you are called to pick up your child, please do so immediately.
We follow Richland District Two for Inclement weather. If the school is on a Two Hour Delay we will not open for the day. If the school closes for the entire day, we are closed as well. Do remember I have teachers that have children in schools and I have to make sure I have coverage in the classrooms so this is considered when there are closings or delays.
Other reasons for closure:
No electricity
No Heat or AC not available
City or State agency declares a weather emergency
Widespread Illness
No policy/protocol can cover every potential emergency situation.
No adjustments or refunds will be made to session fees due to closures for any of the above reasons.
When in question, please feel free to contact April Lashley, NEPC MMO Coordinator
