CONNECT WITH THE CANTATA!
Find out all you need to know about our seasonal productions here.
Cantatas are musical productions, usually with a narrative element that can be played out by a narrator, singers, actors, or any combination of the 3. This musical form has been used for hundreds of years. At NEPC, our cantatas tell the story of Jesus’ birth at Christmas and Jesus’ death and resurrection at Easter. It is a thrilling experience of service and worship that we enjoy year in and year out.
If you want to be part of a cantata, we are always looking for:
- Singers, of course!
- Tech (Audio/Visual/Lighting)
- Stage (set, scenery, costumes)
If you have a desire to serve in any of these areas, contact Jeremy Buzzard, Director of Music.
WHAT IS THE CANTATA WORKSHOP?
The Cantata Workshop is an introductory rehearsal for singers interested in participating with the choir for our annual Christmas or Easter Cantata. If you have previous choir experience or have a good ear for music and enjoy singing, we’d love to have you join us at the workshop. Just let us know you are coming, enjoy learning with us, and then speak with the Choir Director after rehearsal.
NEPC Music provides multiple special worship services throughout the year that feature music as the primary means of worship. Music is often able to reach hearts in ways that words cannot. We pray that the Holy Spirit uses these special times of worship to speak clearly about the hope we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to all who hear.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO COMMIT?
Following the workshop, we hold short cantata rehearsals at the beginning of our weekly choir practice, increasing the time spent on cantata music as we get closer to the event. These rehearsals are necessary for participation in the cantata.
